Interior 31 is a Toronto-based design studio focused on limited-edition sculptural textile objects.
The work is material-driven — bringing together woven textiles, leather, and embroidery into composed forms defined by contrast and tactile presence.
Each piece is developed and constructed within the studio, moving from material selection to final form through a controlled process. Produced in limited editions, never exceeding 31, the work establishes a disciplined approach to quantity, permanence, and collectibility.
The name draws from the notion of interior as a contained space — a unit within a larger whole — paired with 31, a number tied to creative expression, independence, and structural discipline.
Founded by Viviana Michaud, the studio operates through a precise approach to composition, where material and form are resolved with clarity and restraint. Rooted in her Mexican and French heritage, and informed by a multidisciplinary background spanning fine art, graphic design, fashion styling, and interior design, the work reflects a measured yet expressive approach to contemporary object design.
